Meet Our Vendor
As the oldest candle company in the world, Rathbornes continues to create beautiful candles using traditional skills that were used in the Fifteenth century. In 1488, John G Rathborne established his company in Dublin, hoping to make a fortune in a new and innovative business in candles after moving from England. With his new business taking off, the need for Rathbornes candles grew, and the 1630s saw a safer Dublin as candles lit streets, lighthouses, churches, and homes. Presently, the company states “we have been refining our candles throughout our history, and taking the best from centuries of experience” including the development of new wax (animal tallow to beeswax) to create a cleaner, slow burning candle along with traditional methods of craftsmanship like hand-pouring each candle. Rathbornes celebrates their heritage through beautifully made candles and warm, rich scents to comfort homes.
